Code of Ethics
Adopted in 1913, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Code of Ethics was one of the first ethical standards established by a business organization. It upholds professionalism in real estate by ensuring REALTORS® prioritize their clients’ best interests and cooperate with one another to serve consumers effectively. To maintain these high standards, REALTORS® must complete Code of Ethics training at least once every three years.
The current National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Ethics cycle, Cycle 8, requires all REALTORS® to complete an association-approved Ethics course between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2027.

This requirement, known as Cycle 8, is in addition to the existing Code of Ethics training. The training must be at least two hours long and meet specific learning objectives and criteria set by the National Association of REALTORS®. The first deadline for this requirement is December 31, 2027.
Step into Fairhaven 2.0
Fairhaven is an interactive training simulation developed by the National Association of REALTORS® to combat discrimination in real estate. Through real-life scenarios, agents navigate challenges and make ethical decisions to ensure fair housing practices. This innovative tool helps REALTORS® recognize and address implicit bias, reinforcing their commitment to equal opportunity and the principles of the Fair Housing Act.
This course is your gateway to creating more inclusive and equitable communities while meeting the new NAR fair housing training requirement. Best of all, it’s free for NAR members.
